Don't do Whitney in Oct 🚫"High-flying attorney, 49, found dead on highest USA mountain after he didn't check out of his hotel

Mt  Whitney is the highest peak in the continental USA (of course not including Alaska). You can hike it in one day if you really want to push yourself,  otherwise you can do it in two days & camp halfway.  you don't usually need climbing gear in the summer,  but if you go in the fall  there's prob going to be fresh snow  and you're going to at least need some crampons- it's just not a good idea. If you're going to do it, do it in summer: June -July -August. And you need a permit by the way.
